Preparation
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon until evenly combined.
- In a separate bowl, lightly beat the egg and whisk in the milk until smooth and slightly frothy.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Gently fold in diced apples until distributed throughout the batter.
Frying
- Fill a deep fryer or a heavy pot with vegetable oil to a depth of about 2 to 3 inches. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and monitor with a thermometer.
- Use a teaspoon or small cookie scoop to drop rounded spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying for about 3–4 minutes total, flipping halfway through.
- Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels or a wire rack to drain excess oil.
- Dust the warm fritters with powdered sugar just before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with a side of whipped cream, vanilla yogurt, or a simple caramel sauce for dunking. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to restore crispness.
