Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Meanwhile, pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels.
Seasoning the Chicken
- In a small bowl, mix olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Brush this mixture onto both sides of the chicken breasts.
Baking
- Place the seasoned chicken breasts on a baking tray. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
Adding BBQ Sauce
- After 20 minutes, take the chicken from the oven and generously brush barbecue sauce over the tops of the breasts. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes.
- Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
The Finishing Touch
- For an extra layer of flavor, broil the chicken for the last 2-3 minutes.
Notes
Store leftover BBQ chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To freeze, wrap tightly in plastic wrap for up to 2 months. Reheat by preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C), cover with foil, and heat for about 15 minutes. Marinate the chicken in barbecue sauce a few hours before cooking for deeper flavor absorption.
