Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 large head cauliflower Choose a fresh head for best results
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar, mozzarella) Feel free to experiment with different cheese types
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For brushing the cauliflower steaks
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust according to preference
  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika, fresh herbs For extra flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cut the cauliflower into thick slices (steaks) about 1 inch thick.
  3. Brush both sides of the cauliflower steaks with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and any additional spices.
Cooking
  1. Place the seasoned cauliflower steaks on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  2. Remove the cauliflower from the oven and sprinkle shredded cheese on top of each steak.
  3. Return to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Serve hot as a side dish or vegetarian main course.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat the steaks in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warm. You can meal prep by making the steaks in advance without the cheese, then add the cheese just before roasting.
