  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Olive oil helps in crisping the onions.
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper Freshly ground black pepper is recommended.
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances the flavor.
Optional ingredients
  • paprika, chili flakes, parmesan, fresh herbs Optional seasonings for variation.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (392°F).
  2. Slice onions into thin rings and separate them.
  3. Toss onions with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Spread evenly on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  5. Sprinkle cheese over onions.
Baking
  1. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden and crispy.
  2. Let cool for a few minutes, then break into pieces and serve.

Notes

Slice onions evenly for better crisping. Avoid adding too much cheese to prevent greasiness. Use parchment paper to avoid sticking. Bake until golden, not dark. Variations include adding chili flakes for a spicy version or herbs like thyme for a fresh touch. An air fryer version works at 180°C (356°F) for 8 to 10 minutes.
