Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions

Ingredients
  

For the Beef Marinade
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced Tender cut for best results.
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce Use tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
For Stir-Frying
  • 1 bell pepper sliced Any color works well.
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For frying.
For Serving
  • as needed cooked rice or noodles Steamed rice or noodles of choice.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for about 15-20 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the marinated beef to the skillet, spreading it out evenly. Stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes until browned.
  3. Add the sliced onions and bell pepper to the skillet. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  4. Once the vegetables are tender, add the minced garlic and stir-fry for another minute.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat and serve the Chinese Pepper Steak hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For a larger batch, consider freezing portions in sealed freezer bags for up to 2 months.
