Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy for about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
- Fold in chocolate chips gently.
Baking
- Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch round cake pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
