Ingredients

Pasta Salad Ingredients
  • 8 ounces pasta (e.g., rotini or penne) Cook according to package directions.
  • 1 cup mayonnaise Base for the creamy dressing.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard Adds tanginess.
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar For acidity.
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved Adds sweetness.
  • 1 cup cucumbers, diced Provides crunch.
  • ½ cup red onion, diced For sharpness.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella) Add your preferred cheese.
  • Salt and pepper to taste To season.
  • Fresh herbs (e.g., parsley or basil) for garnish Optional garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add your pasta and cook according to the package directions, until al dente.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, gather your other ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and white wine vinegar until well combined.
  3. Once the pasta is cooked, drain it in a colander and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
  4. Add the cooled pasta to the mixing bowl with the sauce, then mix in the cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, and shredded cheese. Stir well to combine everything evenly.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. You can also add in some fresh herbs for an extra burst of flavor.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld together.

Notes

Avoid overcooking the pasta to keep it firm. Customize by adding cooked chicken or ham, or try yogurt as a lighter mayonnaise substitute.
