Dough and Cheese
  • 16 oz Pizza dough Store-bought or homemade, at room temperature.
  • 8 oz Mozzarella cheese Cut into small cubes or use pre-cut string cheese.
Flavorings and Fat
  • 3 cloves Garlic Fresh minced for the best flavor.
  • 2 tbsp Fresh herbs (parsley and oregano) Use fresh or dried; adjust amount if using dried.
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter Melted for brushing.
  • 1 cup Marinara sauce Warmed for dipping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough and cut it into small pieces, roughly 1.5 to 2 inches square.
  3. Place a cube of mozzarella cheese in the center of each piece of dough and fold it around the cheese, sealing it closed.
  4. Shape the stuffed dough into football shapes and place them in a greased baking dish.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the minced garlic and chopped herbs.
  6. Brush the garlic herb butter mixture over the rolls.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

For best results, let assembled dough pieces sit at room temp before baking. Optional toppings: finely chopped roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, or everything bagel seasoning.
