  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Watch closely while cooking to avoid burning.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Adjust to preference for tang and depth.

  • 4 pieces hamburger buns
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese Substitute with Gruyère, provolone, or fontina if needed.
  • Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Method

Caramelizing Onions
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  2. Add sliced onions and cook for 10–12 minutes until golden and caramelized, stirring every few minutes.
  3. For deeper flavor, continue cooking up to 20–25 minutes, adding a splash of water to deglaze the pan.
Cooking Beef
  1. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  3. Drain excess fat, then stir in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, thyme (optional), salt, and pepper.
  4. Let simmer for 5 minutes to meld flavors.
Preparing Buns
  1. Toast hamburger buns lightly until golden brown.
Assembling Sandwiches
  1. Scoop the beef mixture onto each bun’s bottom half, top with Swiss cheese, and cover with the top bun.
  2. Place assembled sandwiches under a broiler or in a hot oven (350°F) for 2–3 minutes to melt the Swiss cheese.
  3. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired before serving.
