  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • Chocolate chips (optional)
  • Ice cream (for serving)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the 9x9 inch baking pan.
Mixing Ingredients
  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir until just combined.
  3. Optionally, fold in chocolate chips for extra indulgence.
Baking
  1. Pour the brownie batter into the greased baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. A toothpick should show a few moist crumbs when done.
Serving
  1. Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Cut into squares and serve warm with ice cream.

Notes

These brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to four days. They freeze well for up to three months. Top with chocolate sauce, nuts, berries, or serve with espresso.
