Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes

Ingredients
  

For the Sloppy Joe Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef Use leaner grind for less grease.
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • ½ cup ketchup Add more for a saucier mix.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder Increase for more heat.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the Assembly
  • 4 slices garlic bread Can be store-bought or homemade.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and onion until the beef is cooked through and the onion is translucent.
  2. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, until heated through.
  4. Preheat your oven to broil.
  5. Place the garlic bread on a baking sheet.
  6. Pile the sloppy joe mixture on top of each slice of garlic bread.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top of the sloppy joes.
  8. Broil in the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Pairs beautifully with a crisp green salad or coleslaw. Keep leftovers stored separately for best texture when reheating.
