Preparation
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook 1 lb of ground beef and 1 chopped onion, stirring frequently until browned and the onion is soft, about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain excess fat from skillet, then stir in 1 cup of ketchup, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, and 1 tsp of garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and allow to simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
- While the mixture simmers, preheat your oven to the broil setting.
- On a baking sheet, lay out your 4 slices of garlic bread and spoon the sloppy joe mixture generously over each slice.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheese over each slice, then broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot and enjoy immediately.
Notes
Leftover Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. For freezing, store just the sloppy joe mixture in a freezer-safe container for up to three months. Best to prepare garlic bread fresh for optimal texture.
