Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your 9x13 inch cake pan.
- Prepare the yellow cake mix according to package instructions and pour it into your prepared pan.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool completely in the pan.
Cream Cheese Layer
- While the cake cools, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar together in a medium bowl until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Once your cake has cooled, spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the top.
Topping the Cake
- Top the cake with the crushed pineapple, including some juice for added moisture.
- Evenly spread the whipped topping over the pineapple layer.
- If you desire a bit of crunch, sprinkle chopped nuts on top.
Chill and Serve
- Refrigerate the cake for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld and the layers to set.
- Serve the Heaven on Earth Cake as a standalone dessert or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
Notes
To store leftovers, keep the cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. If made ahead, the flavors enhance as it sits. The cake can also be frozen for about 3 months.
