Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended) Using 80/20 gives classic burger flavor; use 90/10 for leaner.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cups shredded iceberg or romaine lettuce Choose what’s in season.
  • ½ cup dill pickle chips Or swap for bread-and-butter slices if you prefer sweeter bites.
  • ½ cup chopped onion (optional)
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
For the Tangy Burger Sauce
  • ½ cup mayonnaise For lighter sauce, substitute half with Greek yogurt.
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup Use low-sugar or keto alternative if needed.
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder

Method

Prepare the sauce
  1. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and onion powder.
  2. Whisk or stir until smooth and creamy. Adjust tang and sweetness to taste.
  3. Set aside in the refrigerator while you cook the beef.
Season the beef
  1. In a medium bowl, mix ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Form into small crumbles or patties.
Cook the beef
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add seasoned ground beef. For crumbles, break up immediately. For patties, sear and then break up slightly.
  3. Cook until browned, approximately 6-8 minutes.
  4. Carefully drain excess grease.
Assemble the bowls
  1. Divide lettuce among four bowls.
  2. Top each with cooked ground beef, then add cheese, pickles, and onion.
Serve
  1. Drizzle the tangy burger sauce over each bowl before serving.

Notes

Keep cheese and pickles separate until serving to avoid sogginess. Variations include using different types of cheese or adding other toppings.
