Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked turkey, cheese, mayonnaise, and mustard (if using). Mix until well combined. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread.
Assembling the Sandwich
- Place the slices butter-side down on a baking tray.
- Layer the turkey mixture evenly over half of the bread slices, then top with fresh spinach and avocado slices if desired.
- Cover with the remaining slices of bread to make sandwiches.
Baking
- Place the tray in the oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasted.
- Optional: Broil the sandwiches for the last 2 minutes for a crispy top.
Serving
- Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, then cut diagonally and serve warm.
- Pair with a side of fresh salad for a complete meal.
Notes
For added flavor, mix in herbs like dill or oregano to the turkey mixture. To prevent soggy bread, ensure the turkey mixture isn’t too wet.
