Ingredients

For the Noodles
  • 10 oz linguine or your favorite noodles
For the Beef and Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef for a savory base
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced adds rich flavor
  • cup brown sugar brings a delightful sweetness
  • ¼ cup beef broth enhances the depth of flavor
  • cup soy sauce for that classic umami taste
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce adds a hint of sweetness and savoriness
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger for a little warmth
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper for a touch of spice
  • pinch red pepper flakes (optional) if you like it spicy!
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch for thickening the sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water to mix with the cornstarch
  • 4 green onions, sliced for garnish and a fresh finish

Method

Cooking the Noodles
  1. Start by cooking the linguine according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Preparing the Sauce
  1. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth. Then, add the beef broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, ginger, and black pepper. Stir until combined.
Cooking the Beef
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
Adding Garlic
  1. Once the beef is browned, add the minced garlic to the pan and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the beef. Stir well and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  2. Toss the cooked linguine into the skillet, mixing it thoroughly with the beef and sauce until everything is well coated.
Serving
  1. Garnish with sliced green onions and enjoy your delicious meal!

Notes

Don’t overcook the noodles; keep them al dente. Adjust sweetness to taste and watch the heat level if adding red pepper flakes. Avoid overcrowding the pan when cooking beef.
