Ingredients

For the custard filling
  • 2 cups milk
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
For the crust
  • 1 pie crust pie crust

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add in the melted butter, milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  5. Sprinkle ground nutmeg on top.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is slightly golden.
  2. Let it cool before serving to allow the custard to firm up.

Notes

To prevent a soggy crust, consider blind-baking your pie crust for about 10 minutes before adding the custard. Enhance flavor with a pinch of cinnamon or almond extract for variation. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for longer storage.
