Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 6 cups Rice Chex cereal Use gluten-free if needed
  • 15 oz Golden Oreos (crushed) Can substitute with any favorite cookie
  • 1 cup White chocolate chips Sugar-free option available
  • 2 tbsp Coconut oil Butter can be used for a richer flavor
  • 1 cup Freeze-dried strawberries Avoid fresh strawberries as they won't work
  • 1 cup Strawberry cake mix Can substitute with vanilla cake mix
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar Reduce for a less sugary option
Optional Add-ins
  • to taste Mini marshmallows
  • to taste Chopped dried strawberries

Method

Preparation
  1. Measure 6 cups of Rice Chex and pour it into a very large mixing bowl.
  2. Crush 15 oz of Golden Oreos: place them in a sealable bag and smash with a rolling pin, or pulse 6–8 seconds in a food processor until you have small crumbs.
  3. If you prefer a finer strawberry texture, pulse 1 cup freeze-dried strawberries in a blender or food processor until you have a powder.
Melting the Chocolate
  1. Place 1 cup white chocolate chips and 2 tbsp coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20–30 second bursts, stirring in between, until smooth.
  2. Alternatively, melt using a double boiler.
Combining Ingredients
  1. In a separate large sealable bag or bowl, mix 1 cup strawberry cake mix with 1 cup powdered sugar and the crushed Golden Oreo crumbs.
  2. Add pulverized freeze-dried strawberries if desired.
Coating the Cereal
  1. Pour the melted white chocolate over the Rice Chex and gently fold until coated.
  2. Spread the cereal onto a baking tray lined with parchment to set, then toss with the dry coating mix.
Final Steps
  1. Transfer the cereal to the bag with the coating mix and gently shake until coated.
  2. Spread the finished puppy chow on a tray to cool and set.
  3. Sample and adjust sweetness or flavors as desired.

Notes

Avoid fresh strawberries in the mix; they add moisture. For a richer flavor, substitute the coconut oil with unsalted butter. Store in an airtight container for 5–7 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
